Reading online using myON.
We are very excited to use ‘MyOn’ for pupils at Staunton and Corse Academy. MyOn is a digital library with thousands of ebooks for children to choose from. The digital books available can be tailored to children’s interests and will allow your child to read books independently, or together as a family and at any other time you choose. Please ensure that you are checking the books your child is reading, as there is open access to many genres and age ranges.
The Myon website allows your child to interact with their books by highlighting sections, annotating with virtual post-it notes and listening to text. Part of the website has a ‘news’ section where there will be current child-friendly news articles for your child to access. Children can choose to read the book themselves or have it read for them. Your child’s teacher can view the books they have read and see how long they have read for too. Once your child has read a book, they can ‘take a quiz’ – exactly like they do in school – their Myon account links to their in-school Accelerated Reader account where children accrue points and are working towards their target of reading 20 minutes each day or to fill their sunflower by the end of each term.
If you are worried about internet access you can also download 20 books at a time to your device for your child to read offline at any time.
How to access MyOn
- Click this link or enter the web address: https://www.myon.co.uk/
- Type and select Staunton and Corse COE Primary school
- Enter your child’s username and password (this is the same password used for Accelerated Reader and are case sensitive. They are used in school to access any quiz they take)
- You are now in the digital library – for now please explore the many genres of books/news articles and enjoy!
-
Once logged into their MyOn account, children can state what type of book they are interested in and save this information.
-
Please note, the children will may need to link their MyOn account with their Renaissance Star Reading account (their AR account) by adding their username and password again and agreeing to link their accounts.
We have practised using the myON website in class, in preparation for its use at home. If you have any problems logging into your child’s account please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for further support.
Please see the information below for further information and assistance.
